Community Emergency Preparedness
Palos Verdes Cities and Los Angeles County have partnered up to launch a new evacuation alert system that will be used as a tool to alert residents in all of Los Angeles County of any evacuation orders in the event of an emergency.
The alert system will be monitored by the Los Angeles County Office of Emergency Management and will be used by local law enforcement and Fire to assist in the event of an emergency.
The “Know Your Zone” campaign has been recently rolled out to make all residents aware of their community’s assigned evacuation zones.
Academy Hill’s assigned evacuation zone id is LAC-E903. Residents of Academy Hill can check the website at anytime at https://www.pvpready.gov/find-your-zone/ and enter the zone id listed above for Academy Hill in the search area to see the status of our community.
If there are no issues within our community, you will see a “NORMAL” status appear and a message stating that “No current knowledge of active public safety incidents affecting your area.”
Should there be an emergency event happening within our community, the various status alerts available on the alert system to inform the public include:

Shelter in Place
Advisory
Evacuation Warning
Evacuation Order
Evacuation Lifted

For residents with emergency radios on hand, local emergency alerts will also be announced live on any of the following local stations:
AHHA plans to conduct a tutorial of the “Know Your Zone” website for all residents at the next annual meeting to be held sometime in September 2023. Stay tuned for more details about this presentation in the upcoming AHHA newsletters.
